Play Fair presented the IOC with the names of 12000 participants all requesting the IOC to finally take action and end exploitation in their supply chain. Again, the IOC was unwilling to make any commitment.

APRIL 19 - CAVITE: The Solidarity of Cavite Workers (SCW), an alliance of workers organizations and unions in the province of Cavite held an unofficial “Olympic Torch Relay” to launch Play Fair’s Catch the Flame campaign in the Philippines. SCW’s outpouring of support for the initiative was impressive considering just weeks before the group suffered the loss of one of its leaders, Gerardo Cristobal, who was brutally murdered on March 10th.

"¡Pasa la Llama!" - Catch the Flame; some 12.000 torchbearers 'caught the flame' in a virtual torch relay across the world. Messages were sent and Flames were being caught via mail, SMS and Bluetooth. This picture shows a flame being caught in Barcelona. The flame traveled another 98 countries.

MAY 1- HONG KONG: one of Play Fair’s labor rights fuwas brought the Catch the Flame message to Hong Kong. Though the Catch the Flame website is blocked in China and supporters were unable to sign onto the message to the IOC, hundreds of text messages carrying the virtual flame have passed to workers in China.

APRIL 1 - VIENNA: Former European swimming champion Vera Lischka speaking out in support of Catch the Flame at the launch in Austria. Lischka held up her adidas shoe during the press conference to draw attention to the low wages paid to the workers who actually made it.
